About
Dr. Laura Bruce, Ph.D.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Philadelphia, specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders.
I believe strongly that treatment should be evidence-based, and flexibly tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual. I use cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and acceptance-based approaches to help patients live a full and meaningful life. My personal style is direct, non-judgmental, informative, and compassionate.
After receiving a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia and helping conduct research at University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, I went on to receive a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Temple University under the mentorship of Richard G. Heimberg, an internationally renowned expert in the treatment of anxiety. My predoctoral internship was completed at the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia and my post-doctoral fellowship was completed at the Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Philadelphia. I have practiced in a range of clinical settings, including anxiety specialty, college counseling, and community mental health practices. I have published several articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as authored book chapters on anxiety assessment and treatment. In addition to my clinical work, I provide consultation and training for other mental health providers in evidence based treatments for anxiety disorders.
