Services

  • Individual treatment typically involves regular one-on-one meetings with a therapist. Treatment will be based on evidence-based strategies for meeting the particular goals of each client. Currently, both in-person and telehealth options are available.

  • Comprehensive diagnostic evaluation services entail (1) a thorough history and background, and (2) a diagnostic intake covering several disorders. Diagnostic evaluations are offered as the first part of treatment, or as a stand-alone service.

  • Sometimes individual therapy benefits from the short-term inclusion of partners or family members. The choice to include others in some aspects of therapy, and the scope of their involvement, is always at the discretion of the client.

  • The Philadelphia Center for Anxiety and OCD does not currently provide psychiatry (medication) services. However, we can discuss the option of medication and will work with your psychiatrist or prescribing physician to coordinate care.

  • Consultation services are appropriate for any mental health professional or organization that wishes to receive additional or specialized training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of OCD, anxiety disorders, and a range of related conditions. Treatment Approach

Anxiety is a normal part of life.

In fact, having some degree of anxiety is essential if we are to foresee and meet the challenges of our lives. As the philosopher Kierkegaard noted, “Whoever is educated by anxiety is educated by possibility.”

But for some people, anxiety becomes overwhelming and contributes to difficulties in work, school, relationships, health, and diminishes overall quality of life. For those individuals, therapy can help restore balance and increase life satisfaction.

If you choose to work with me, you will receive treatment based on up-to-date research and evidence-based practices. I believe that treatment should be collaborative, active, efficient, compassionate, and results-driven.

Research demonstrates that there are several effective approaches to treating anxiety, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). But getting the right “brand” of treatment is not enough; you also need a well-trained therapist with strong interpersonal skills, depth of experience, and unmistakable craft in order to reap the full benefits of therapy.
